Endless Summer Surf House Review: Arrifana, Portugal
It’s pretty rare to find a place in a new town, country, or even continent, and instantly connect with it. But that’s how we felt checking into the Endless Summer Surf House in Arrifana, Portugal. Instantly at home.
This beautiful surf house is located just ten minutes away from the famous Praia Arrifana surf spot, in the Algarve surf region of Southern Portugal.
The location is truly perfect- it’s in a quiet neighborhood, perfect for getting a good night’s rest before surfing in the morning, but also close enough to the action so you can easily get to surf spots, restaurants, and the grocery store.
I recently spent a week at Endless Summer Surf House, and absolutely loved it. If you’re looking for a great place to stay in the Arrifana/Aljezur area, or really anywhere in Southern Portugal, you can’t go wrong staying in this wonderful surf house. Now, get ready to learn all about it in my Endless Summer Surf House review!
P.s.: You don’t have to be a surfer to stay here!

About Endless Summer Surf House
Endless Summer Surf House is a lovely guest house equipped with everything you could possibly need on your surf trip to Portugal. The host, Ludo, lives with his small family in an attached unit. He was one of the most welcoming people we met on our whole trip!

One of our favorite things about Endless Summer Surf House was the connections we made there. One night, Rowan and I stayed up late playing games and exchanging stories with other travelers at the surf house. Those connections would never have been made if it weren’t for Ludo encouraging guests to intermix, and teaching us all to play Backgammon!
The layout of Endless Summer Surf House is spacious, yet intimate. We stayed in the Family Room with a Shared Bathroom.
Here are the different accommodation options at Endless Summer Surf House:
- Luxury dorm
The dorm room sleeps 6 people, with triple-story bunk beds on each side of the room. This isn’t your typical dorm though- The lower, more visible beds are equipped with their own privacy curtain, and each bunk has its own personal reading light. The dorm has its own access to the backyard, along with a little side table- the perfect place for a morning coffee.
- Family room
The family room is where Rowan and I stayed, and we loved it! The room is bright and cheerful, with a bunk bed, and two twin beds, so it can sleep 4 in total. We ended up pushing the twin beds together, so it was like having our own queen sized bed.
The family room also has its own door to the yard, which was nice to crack open at night and get some airflow. The family room also has a large, floor-to-ceiling armoire, along with a smaller dresser and nightstand.
- Private room with en-suite bathroom
If you’re looking for a romantic getaway, or simply a really nice room to yourself, then you should opt for the Double Room with Private Bathroom. This room is bright, well-furnished, and spacious. You also get your own access to the terrace with a quaint little table to enjoy.
One of the best features about this room is the private bathroom. The luxury dorm and family room share one bathroom, but if you are looking to have your own bathroom but still stay in a social, shared house, you should definitely book the Private Room.

Attractions Nearby
One of the best things about Endless Summer Surf House is its location. Here’s what it is close to:
Arrifana
Praia Arrifana is only a 5 minute drive from Endless Summer Surf House! This beautiful beach has excellent surf, sunset views, and a few great restaurants nearby.
Monte Clerigo
Monte Clerigo is another great surf spot in Aljezur, and it’s only a 9 minute drive from Endless Summer Surf House.
Restaurants
Endless Summer Surf House is only a 1 minute drive, or 3 minute walk from a little strip of the best restaurants in the area. Maxi’s Warung has tasty Thai and Indo food (my favorite!)Arte Bianca is a nice Italian restaurant with good pizzas, and there are a few others, including Sector B Hamburgueria with the best chicken wings in Aljezur.
Things to know
- You’ll want a rental car
To best explore this area, you’re going to want a rental car. While some restaurants are close, it’s about a 20 minute walk to the mini super, and a 90 minute walk to the main supermarket. We rented with Guerin for 2 months, and they were great. No unexpected fees, and the guy who checked us in was even a surfer!
You also will want the freedom of getting to check out all the different Aljezur surf spots and pick the one that’s working best!
- Mosquitoes
The mosquitoes are pretty bad in this area. If you’re allergic like me, you’ll definitely want to bring along some bug spray and benadryl cream for bites.
If you forget these items don’t worry though, you can always buy them from the pharmacy in Aljezur.
- Shared bathroom
Unless you book the private room with a private bathroom, you’ll be sharing a bathroom and shower with up to 10 people.
When to visit
We visited Arrifana in the fall, from September-November and experienced pretty perfect weather. It rained a few times while we were there but never for more than a few hours, and we were happy to see the rain as the land here clearly needs it!
If you’re coming to surf, the fall is definitely the best time for intermediate surfers, summer/early fall is best for beginners, and late fall/winter is best for more advanced surfers.
With that said, this is a beautiful area with fairly moderate weather all year, so you can really come whenever and still have a great time.
